Are the treatments safe and painless?
SharpLight's pulsed-light treatments are non-invasive and 100% safe.
A topical anaesthetic will be applied. Most patients find the treatment quite tolerable, experiencing more of a heat/prickly sensation rather than pain. To overcome this, we use a cool cold compres after the treatment.
Once treated, ointment will be applied and provided for home care.
How much downtime will I have?
With the fractional laser treatment there is downtime of 5-7 days after a treatment on the face. For off face areas, such as hands/arms, where healing is slower the process may take up to 2 weeks.

What is the diffrence between Fractional Laser and Carbon Laser Peel?
Fractional laser treatments use laser light to create microscopic wounds in the skin, which stimulates the body’s natural healing process and helps reduce wrinkles and other signs of aging.
Carbon laser peels use Nd:YAG Q Switched Laser and a carbon-based solution to remove the outermost layer of skin cells, resulting in a smoother, brighter complexion. Both treatments can be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, and pigmentation.
However, fractional laser treatments are typically more effective at treating deeper wrinkles and can also improve skin tone and texture. Carbon laser peels are generally better suited for treating superficial skin imperfections.
What is the difference between CO2 Ablative Laser and Fractional Ablative Erbium Laser?
CO2 ablative lasers are used to remove the outer layers of skin, such as wrinkles and age spots. They also help to tighten underlying skin and stimulate collagen production, resulting in smoother skin. The laser energy is delivered in short pulses of high intensity, which vaporizes the top layer of the epidermis. This procedure requires several days of downtime for healing and can cause redness, swelling and discomfort.
Fractional ablative erbium lasers are used to treat mild cases of wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars and other signs of aging. Unlike CO2 ablative lasers, this type of laser does not remove any part of the outer layer of the skin; instead it creates tiny columns in the skin that penetrate deeper into the dermis without damaging surrounding tissue. This leads to a much quicker recovery time with minimal side effects such as redness or swelling. It also stimulates collagen production over a longer period of time than CO2 ablative lasers, resulting in long-term improvements in skin texture and appearance.
In the past, many physicians believed CO2 laser were the best way to treat acne scars, wrinkles, and other skin blemishes. However, more dermatologist, physicians and patients are choosing Fractional laser Erbium : Yag technology over CO2 laser thanks to its impressive results and safe, gentle treatments.
